Let's see if LJ pics are working now.

Pretty pretty Pixi case. <3

OMGYAY!

It's mine... all mine!

I have a Pixi, and I love it to death.

All about it here.

Since it unfortunately didn't come with a case, I made my own. The inside is velvet from a dressy shirt I wore back in junior high, and the outside is scavenged from scraps from [info]ryltar's steampunk vest. Is very pretty, and my thinking is that by sliding against the velvet it will help keep the screen clean. I would show you pictures (took some on my phone, tee hee)... but LJ is being stupid, so just ask me to show it to you next time I see you.

Now off to work on some final projects and find out what I need to study for finals. Only have a little over a week of classes left...

Books piled high

Books

Anyone willing to lend me books 2-4 of the Wizard of Earthsea series? [info]ryltar only has the first one, and I can't find them at the library (must be checked out).

It's over 9000!

AND I just did 3.2k in Naxx, so I'm eligible to do regular raids with the guild now. I think this means I win!!

Well, that certainly isn't purple.

But it is interesting.

Guess Miho had a bad hair day and decided to change her color.

XKCD

I's alive! Really!

Wow, it's been a long time since I posted something that wasn't a copypasta. Let's see if I can fix that.

I've been pretty busy lately, though not always with completely necessary stuff. My wrist surgery recovery is going extremely well, and I can almost open spaghetti sauce jars again. (Not quite, but I'm working on it.) I can sew and spin, and most importantly, write and type. It's wonderful, and hardly hurts at all except when I'm doing my 3x daily stretches and playing with my uber-strong silly putty to strengthen my grip.

In computery news, I dinged level 80 in World of Warcraft on Sunday. Now the real work begins.. but I must say, it's awfully fun playing with more groups of people than usual. The solo stuff is quite fun, but since I've always been in a top-level guild I haven't done much with them. Now I don't have to get PUGs if I want to run a dungeon, and I actually have a chance to run daily heroics for cool new gear. Mwahaha.

School is also going well, providing "going well" means "I'm bored out of my freaking skull and hate all my classes". French=fail as usual (though I have an A-/B+, so not literally - I just hate it), Principles of PR is a cakewalk (because I know more about PR than my teacher, I think I could teach that class w/o any problems), Ethics is, well, Ethics, and First Amendment is a law class from Hell. I have decent grades in all of them, but geez, this is a really rotten semester. I'm bored in every single class.

Fortunately, next semester will be much better! I just enrolled on Tuesday, and will be taking Strategic Campaigns (real PR work for a real client), Photojournalism, Sociology of Communities (I think), and Print and Online Design. Sounds like fun, minus the soc class - but I needed another 300+ soc for my minor in order to graduate. Ahh, requirements..

Graduation is straight on track, and I'll be done with school in May. Yippee! My job search is going well so far, in that I've been talking to my contacts and getting the word out that I'll be looking for a job come May. My friend Shane from church, who runs Cerner's social media stuff, sat down with me last Sunday and gave me tons of pointers - plus he's promised to introduce me to several of his PR contacts so I can get even more advice, and recommended several books and articles I should read to prep myself for the real world.

I think that's all for now - going to go get ready for the gym. I've been doing 5-10 miles on a stationary cycle 3 times a week for the last couple months, and I just started doing free weights (yay! I can lift things again!) a couple weeks ago. Haven't lost any weight, but I haven't gained any either, which is something. Go me.

Oh, and don't forget my Halloween party this weekend if I invited you. I need to see you peopleses more often. :)

Ok, so I'm kind of excited about this..

http://rose-society.org/index.html

There's a steampunk convention in St. Louis the weekend before my birthday. XD

From the website:
R.O.S.E.'s First Annual Steamposium will be a 3 day salon style convention in the Saint Louis area on April 9, 10 and 11th in the year of 2010. It was typical in Victorian times to gather all of the greatest minds together for a weekend of fun, frivolity and a meeting of the minds. This First Annual Steamposium will be no exception.

This event will welcome all fans and future fans of the Steampunk genre that encourages characters, costumes as well as inventions. Plans are underway for an amazing event and as things are added they will be posted on the front page.

There will be opportunities for Costumes to be Judged, Group Pictures, Balls, Discussions, Dances and Off Site Excursions.

etc. etc...

I REALLY want to go. Who's coming with me? :D

May I introduce Lady Rose?

Lady Rose - 1

66 rivets, 132 washers, 12 hinges, 3 clasps, 14 grommets and uncountable pearl and gold beads. Oh yeah, and 7 yards of luscious green velvet and other odds and ends.

Meet Lady Rose, Keeper of the Queen's Law and certified ordnance officer personally assigned to Lord Matthew after one too many accidents.

I heart steampunk! :D

Oh, and I heart my new purple tights, too. Couldn't just wear regular hose under this!

Hand doing well, physical therapy going well, school going well, life going well. :)

Sootball Rules the World

Interesting reaction, and some updates

I finally get the chance to sleep for 6 days straight, and Percocet gives me insomnia. Hahaha...

Surgery yesterday went really well, and I haven't had any pain at all yet. I'm even surprisingly lucid for being on pain pills, and have gotten lots of things done! I get to have my bandages redone next Tuesday, then get my stitches out a week after that. Next Tuesday is also when I find out approx how long the doc thinks it will take me to heal, so crosss your fingers for a speedy recovery - I have a Dr. Horrible coat commissiondue by Halloween!

A few of things I got done were for the KU anime club. We're having our first meeting in Smith Hall 100 on Monday, August 31 at 6:30 p.m., and will watch The Sky Crawlers. Regular meetings will start on Monday, September 14, same time and place. If you'd like to help spread the word, you can print out some flyers and posters to hand out and post anywhere you see fit. And remember, you don't need to be a KU student to join!
